Summary

Description
English: The figure shows the organization and commanders of the Northwest African Air Forces (NAAF) in June 1943 when the Allied forces prepared for the invasion of Sicily, Operation Husky, which took place in July. The three components of NAAF were the Northwest African Strategic Air Force (strategic medium and heavy bomber units), Northwest African Tactical Air Force (tactical fighter, fighter-bomber, and light & medium bomber units), and the Northwest African Coastal Air Force (rescue, anti-shipping, and naval support units). Although technically not part of NAAF, the Northwest African Troop Carrier Command, Northwest African Training Command, and Northwest African Photographic Reconnaissance Wing provided troop and equipment transport, training, and reconnaissance support, respectively, for the Allied forces in the North African and Mediterranean areas at this time.
