Summary

Description
English: NSW Country Link 'XPT' High Speed Train (5 trailers + 2 power cars) with power car No.2015 (ex-City of Bathurst; ex-City of Melbourne) in debranded NSW Country Link livery approaching Sandgate on a Brisbane - Newcastle Interchange - Sydney Central service, 3 October 2018. Based on BREL's HST, Comeng (Granville, Sydney) and ABB Transportation (Dandenong) built 19 power cars 1981-84 and 60 coaches (to a Budd design) 1981-87. Although built as 2 power car + 5 trailer sets, they later operated as 2 power car + 4, 5, 6 or 7-car sets. The power car differs from BREL's Class 43 by having a higher body (to house an enlarged cooling system and heavy duty air filters), lower gearing, modified suspension and different light clusters. Originally fitted with 2,000 hp Paxman 12RP 200 Valenta engines, from 2000 they were refitted with 2,000 hp Paxman VP 185 engines.
