Description
English: 156th Street station on the IRT Third Avenue Line in 1974, just a few months after the line was closed down.
This picture shows the typical track arrangement of a three-track local station on an elevated line with two side platforms and canopies halfway down the station.
Moreover, one can see the beginning of the slow decline of the New York City Subway. The roof leaks, and on the opposite platform, the graffiti that would plague the MTA for the next decade has begun to appear. It is not clear whether the lamps have been stolen or intentionally destroyed by vandals, as frequently occurred.
