Description
English: Fordham Road station on the IRT Third Avenue Line in 1974, just a few months after the line was closed down.
This picture shows the typical track alignment of an express station on an elevated line. The width of the right-of-way limits the line to a single express track in the center, accessible by platforms on both sides.
Express service on the line had ended in 1955, almost two decades before the photo was taken, hence the absence of a center track.
