Description	English: Adam Clark Vroman, Nampeyo building a wall of fuel, 1901, Smithsonian Institution photo #34188-A. Finished painted clay vessels were fired in a mound of dried sheep manure. She wet her hair and tied it in a front not to keep from getting too hot during the firing process.
