| Description |
In 1945 US Navy Seabee bulldozer is used to get a truck loaded with cargo ashore, due to the volcanic black-gray sand and ash. The soft volcanic ash made the movement of troops and vehicles very difficult. The black beaches also have a steep rise to the plateau. |
