English: Wichita, Kansas – More than 900 arrests were made during Operation Triple Beam, a 60-day operation that concluded July 31st, 2019. Arrests included 119 gang members, the seizure of 82 firearms, nearly 100 pounds of narcotics to include marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin and over $142,000 dollars currency was seized.
Operation Triple Beam is a national initiative developed by the U.S. Marshals Service to reduce gang violence and violent crime. By targeting and arresting violent fugitives, gang members and criminal offenders who have committed violent crimes such as homicide, shooting into dwellings, felony assault and sexual assault, illegal possession of firearms, illegal drug distribution, and robbery there is often a profound drop in violent crime for an extended period. Each local, state and federal agency utilized their individual specialized enforcement techniques and statutory authority in order to disrupt the criminal operations of violent street gangs and career criminal offenders in Wichita, KS and surrounding areas.
The operation was conducted by the U.S. Marshals Service and the Wichita Police Department in partnership with the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, ATF, DEA, Kansas Highway Patrol, Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office, Kansas Department of Corrections, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, United States Attorney’s Office, and the United States Postal Inspector.
