Summary

Description
English: As seen in May 2020: the Greek Revival-style building at 72 South Cayuga Road in Williamsville, New York was originally a one-room schoolhouse, built in 1840 of Onondaga limestone (probably from the Fogelsonger quarry) on land belonging to pioneer settler and former Amherst town supervisor Timothy Hopkins, who also served as its first schoolmaster. The school served the students of the village until 1924; the building later served variously as home of the Amherst Senior Center, as the first location of the Amherst Museum from 1972-74 (it's now called Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village and located on Tonawanda Creek Road), and a youth center until 1993.
