DescriptionOldham - George Street Chapel - geograph.org.uk - 1780299.jpg
English: Oldham - George Street Chapel Former Independent Methodist Chapel on George Street, Oldham. Now owned by Age Concern Oldham, who are planning to convert it as a resource and heritage centre.
The chapel opened in 1816 and closed in 1990.The congregation was actually formed in 1805 under the leadership of Joseph Mately when they broke away from St Peter's church. The chapel was built over a basement divided into four cottages, now a rare survival known as 'cellar dwellings'.
