Summary

Description
English: A P-51D-5-NA Mustang (MX-A, serial number 44-13464), flown by Major Sam Brown of the 307th Fighter Squadron, 31st Fighter Group, 15th Air Force. Photograph probably taken between 14 July 1943 and 20 September 1943 at Sicily, or between 21 September 1943 and 5 August 1945 at different Italy Airfields. The 31st Fighter Group was reactivated at AAF Station Giebelstadt (south of Würzburg/Germany) 20 August 1946 with circa 30 new Lockheed P-80A Shooting Stars and some P-51Ds of the deactivated 55th Fighter Group. On September 25, 1946, he was transferred to AAF Station Kitzingen (Lower Franconia, Bavaria, Germany), and by the end of October 1947 he had left Kitzingen again for the USA.
Deutsch: North American P-51D-5-NA Mustang (MX-A, serial number s/n 44-13464), geflogen von Major Sam Brown, 307th Fighter Squadron, 31st Fighter Group, 15th Air Force.
