Description
Deutsch: Aufschluss mit steilgestellter, rhythmisch geschichteter Kalk-Mergel-Tonstein-Wechselfolge der Piesenkopf-Formation (Oberkreide) im Röthenbachtal, Ammergauer Alpen, Bayern. Die Abfolge gehört zum Rhenodanubischen Flysch und damit zum Penninikum. Der Aufschluss ist ein geschütztes Geotop und eines von „Bayerns 100 schönsten Geotopen“.
English: Exposure with steeply tilted, rhythmically bedded limestone-marl-claystone alternation of the Piesenkopf Formation (Upper Cretaceous) in the valley of the Röthenbach creek, Ammergau Alps, Bavaria, Germany. The succession is part of the Rhenodanubian Flysch and thus part of the Penninic domain. The exposure is a protected geotope and is selected one of the „100 most beautiful geotopes of Bavaria“.
