Summary

Description
English: Railway Tunnel, Crich George Stephenson engineered the railway linking Cliff Quarry with Ambergate, and it includes some significant engineering for a purely local industrial line. One of these was the tunnel under Crich Village, some 65 yards long and bored through the hard millstone grit. The tunnel portal is one of the few remaining visible relics of the railway which has been increasing obliterated by housing in the village area, and it is not easy to reach.
