Français : Recueil d’adages et de hadiths - Copié par Hafiz Osman (1642-1698) - Turquie - seconde moitié du 17e siècle - Encres, pigments et or sur papier ; maroquin rouge (reliure) - MAO 2090. Le cartel indique : La zone de texte, encadrée de papier marbré, est divisée en deux registres. La ligne supérieure est réservée à un adage en arabe, qui diffère à chaque page. Les lignes suivantes sont une sélection de hadiths, paroles rapportées du prophète Mahomet. Ces hadiths se lisent en continu, de la première à la dixième page de l’album, et s’achèvent par la signature de Hafiz Osman, l'un des plus célèbres calligraphes de l'empire ottoman. Les deux écritures majuscules et minuscules, appelées thuluth et naskh, comptent parmi les six écritures canoniques formalisées au 13e siècle par le calligraphe Yaqut al-Mustaʿsimi. Celles-ci remplacèrent graduellement les écritures anguleuses de type coufique.
