Summary

Description
English: Detail cropped out of an early 18th century map showing the small territory of the Free Imperial City of Giengen (now Giengen an der Brenz). Giengen was entirely surrounded by the Württemberg exclave of Heidenheim and was never able to acquire a hinterland like most other free imperial cities. The stylized black double-headed eagle indicates Giengen's status as an imperial city.
Cropped from a map originally designed by Johannes Mejer (1606-1674) and published by Johann Baptist Homann c. 1710. The map is titled Ducatus Wurtembergici.
