Revolution Well, Stonegate Road

Was moved a short distance from its original position around 1920. The inscription, which reads 'Bog in the adjoining field drained Spring open'd and conducted hither. For the benefit of the passenger and the Neighbouring House. Novr 5th 1788. The 100th Anniversary from the landing of King William. In memory of which happy Era. This is by Joseph Oates inscribed The Revolution Well'. Joseph Oates of Weetwood Hall, inherited Carr Manor House when his father died. this was in 1779, he began a programme of improvements to the estate. The Revolution Well is a listed building.
