Description
English: Rodney invested - or - Admiral Pig on a cruize (George Bridges Rodney at his investiture in 1782 as the 1st Baron Rodney. He is shown as Britannia's defender following his victory at the Battle of the Saintes; a fallen French flag lies beneath his feet. Behind him Admiral Hugh Pigot is depicted as a pig sailing to take up his post as Rodney's replacement in the Caribbean. Pigot's political ally and gambling companion, Charles James Fox, is depicted as a fox on the shore. Pigot's ship is covered with symbols of cards and dice in reference to his gambling. The illustration was by James Gillray but published by Elizabeth d'Achery in 1782
