Notes Sdlornon was an uncle of an important landscape painter Jacob Isaakszoon van Ruisdael. Fishing had been the leitmotiv of his oevre. He painted compositional variations composed of images such as the view of a river, trees surrounding, barges and sailing ships all reflecting on the surface of the water. Just as Jan van Goyen had done, he create for a certain period in a monochromatic painting scheme - with a limited colour palette.
