Summary
| Description |
English: A view westbound through Shildon railway station on the Tees Valley Line. The bridge is a footbridge connecting the platforms - it's accessed on this side by the steps/ramp on the platform, while on the other side the path runs behind the trees to the ramp behind the shelter and timetable noticeboard (blue handrail just visible). The exit on this platform, between the shelter and steps/ramp, leads to the Locomotion railway museum, opened in 2004. The main line connection to the Shildon site is a short distance behind the camera, connected to this side of the track. The exit on the other platform leads to housing. The actual centre of Shildon is around 1km away, in the general direction of the photo. The line curves away to the north west, before a gradual curve back to the west, before reaching the last stop on the line, Bishop Auckland station. Behind the camera, the track heads south east on a straight alignement to Newton Aycliffe station. |
