Українська: Інформація про поведінку наноструктур під дією механічного навантаження та механізми їх руйнування є важливою при розробці різних пристроїв. Однак, експериментальні дослідження механічних властивостей наноструктур, зокрема, нанониток вкрай складні та потребують використання дороговартісного обладнання. В той же час, молекулярна динаміка дозволяє на атомарному рівні змоделювати відгук нанониток на зовнішню деформацію, оцінити максимальні навантаження, які витримує матеріал та визначити механізми руйнування.
Представлена анімація демонструє завершальну стадію деформації нанонитки з кремнію, під час якої відбувається руйнування матеріалу. Зміна відтінків поверхні нанонитки ілюструє динаміку наростання механічних напружень в матеріалі під час деформації. Руйнування нанонитки починається із зародження поверхневої тріщини, яка швидко пронизує всю структуру. English: Information about the behavior of nanostructures under the mechanical load and the mechanisms of their failure has important value in the development of various devices. However, experimental studies of the mechanical properties of nanostructures, including nanowires, are very complex and require expensive equipment. At the same time, molecular dynamics allows modeling the response of nanowires to external strain, estimating the maximum loads, and determining the mechanisms of failure.
The presented animation demonstrates the final stage of the uniaxial tension of silicon nanowire, during which the material is destroyed. The change of the surface shades illustrates the increased mechanical stresses in the material during deformation. The failure of the nanowire begins with surface crack nucleation, which quickly penetrates the entire structure. |
