Summary
| Description |
English: The picture depicts the side altar or the altar of preparation of the Greek Catholic Cathedral of Hajdúdorog, Hungary. During the Greek Catholic liturgy the priests keep the wine and the bread on the side altar and it is brought to the main altar just before the holy communion. The painting of the side altar was probalby painted by György Révész in the early 19th century. It depicts the Descent from the Cross. The painter was strongly influenced by Rembradt's similar masterpiece: the Deposition.
Magyar: A kép a hajdúdorogi görög katolikus székesegyház előkészületi oltárát ábrázolja. A görög katolikus liturgiák alatt a papok általában ezen az oltáron tartják a bort és a kovászt, amelyet csak közvetlenül az áldoztatás előtt visznek át a főoltárra. Az előkészületi oltár festményét Révész György festette a 19. század elején. A kép Krisztus levételét a keresztről ábrázolja. A festőt feltehetőleg erősen befolyásolta Rembradt hasonló témájú remekműve: a Levétel a keresztről. |
