English: In the great freedom of his late style, Raeburn has captured all his sitter’s youthful energy and the promise that he was indeed to fulfil. As Sir William Gibson-Craig he was to become Lord Clerk Register, Keeper of the Signet of Scotland and a member of the Privy Council.
