Description
English or french smoothbore flintlock shotgun (fowling piece) w/ walnut half - stock + 1/2 bore. Gun has engraved iron mounting + tapered octagon-to-round barrel. Checking on bottom of stock around back of trigger guard. 6 pewter inlays on stock: 2 on each side of forearm, 1 on top of wrist, + 1 on toe. Inlay on toe is in shaped of hunting dog. Butt has some scars + scratches + 3 repaired places at butt-plate. (B) is tapered ramrod.; Converted to percussion + then back to flintlock; 10 replacement parts in firing mechanism including screws - Schippers 1976 # engraved on trigger guard. Spring in document file. 3/5/09 Additional Info: Filled rifle barrel with wax. This is as a result of historic gun being loaded.
