English: A sample of sodium polyacrylate, also known as "acrylic sodium salt polymer" (monomer: -CH2-CH(CO2Na)-). Commonly found in detergents, the polymer strand has the ability to absorb up to 400 times their weight in water, a property that is exploited for use in common household goods such as diapers as well as agricultural applications. This sample has already absorbed the maximum amount of water.
