Summary

Description Church hall (and original church) next to St Michael and All Angels Church, Dunsbury Way, Leigh Park, Hampshire, England. St Michael and All Angels is one of seven churches on the large postwar Leigh Park estate in Havant (three Anglican, one Roman Catholic, one formerly Methodist but now non-denominational, one Baptist and one Evangelical). The first church, pictured here, opened in 1955 (dedicated to Blessed Margaret Pole) and is now the parish hall. It was replaced by a new church with the present dedication in 1970. After this was destroyed by lightning, the present church was built on the site. A History of the Catholic Church in Havant (1975) notes that a site on Petersfield Road was bought with the intention of building a second Roman Catholic church in Leigh Park, to serve the West Leigh area and Rowlands Castle village, but nothing came of this.
