Summary

Description
English: Starters Building Musselburgh Links Golf Course "Guinness World Records" claim this to be the oldest golf course in the world. The earliest recorded game was on the 2nd March 1672 but it is said Mary Queen of Scots played on the links in 1567. Six Open Championships were played here between 1874 and 1889.Further claims to fame are that the standard hole cutter of 4¼ inches diameter was first used here as was the club the 'Brassie'. This devised to play from a hard road surface. The 2nd hole is known as 'The Graves' since this is where the dead from the Battle of Pinkie (1548) were buried. A 9 hole course it is surrounded by Musselburgh Race Course.
