Summary

Description

A weakening Cyclone Nancy moves across the South Pacific in this Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image from February 15, 2005. Although Nancy was a Category 4 storm in its early stages, by February 15, the storm had weakened. Sustained winds here were still 125 knots. Nancy was predicted to weaken as it moved south over subsequent days.

This image was made by combining observations form the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Aqua satellite. The image was cropped from a larger image which shows both Cyclones Nancy and Olaf. The large version of the image has a spatial resolution of 500 meters per pixel.
