English: The 'Owl and Pussycat', Redchurch Street, Shoreditch There must be some association of this pub (which is still open) with Edward Lear, but I have not discovered what this is. Redchurch Street is a largely dilapidated street, which, many years ago, was the outlet from Bethnal Green Road into Shoreditch High Street. Then the western end of Bethnal Green Road was cut through on a more southerly alignment, and Church Street (as this then was) became a backwater. It was re-named by the LCC as Redchurch Street later.
