The Suffolks engaged some Moplah rebel to-day, :50 of the latter being killed. There was another fight at Mannar Ghat,but no details are to hand. Reinforcements are expected at Calicut for extensive operations. The rebels are conducting a reckless butchery of all Hindus refusing Islam. Some districts are empty of Hindus. The rebel leader, the self crowned Raja of Tirur, was to-day sentenced to seven years imprisonment. Hundreds of Moplahs are being arrested daily. |
