Summary

Description
English: Title: The Master Mystery (1919)

Running time: 09:39

Synopsis:
Episode of a serial in fifteen episodes with magician and escape artist Houdini in the lead. In "The Master Mystery" Houdini played Quentin Locke, a daring member of the Justice Department who investigated the nefarious company International Patents Incorporated. As an employee of the United States Government concerned with intellectual property, Houdini escaped from a straitjacket, a diver's suit and an electric chair. This serialized tale of government work as scripted by Arthur B. Reeve and Charles A. Logue, screenwriters of the "Perils of Pauline," allowed Houdini to do an upside-down rope escape, kill an evil automaton that concealed a human inhabitant, marry a beautiful woman, and discover that he was the long-lost son of a remarkable scientist. The financial success of the B.F. Rolfe production garnered Houdini a contract with Famous Players, the precursor to Paramount.
