Description
English: Tranent Co-operative Society was founded in 1862. The cover page of a 1920 quarterly report shows its main building, in Bridge Street, Tranent, that was built in 1872. Dressed ashlar stone. Shops, warehouses, stables, dwellings. The co-operative was renamed East Lothian Co-operative Society in 1840, after absorbing neighbouring co-operatives, becoming part of Lothian Borders & Angus Co-operative Society in 1998. East Lothian Museums website does not specify the author of the cover page or its photograph.
