English: ANCHORAGE, Alaska—Coast Guard Cutter Mustang escorts U.S. Navy Military Sealift Command fleet replenishment oiler, USNS Henry J. Kaiser, into the port of Seward, Alaska. The Coast Guard’s 41 110-foot Island-class patrol boats, such as Mustang, are important contributors to joint-force maritime national security readiness. The Coast Guard is refurbishing 20 patrol boats from this fleet under the Mission Effectiveness Project, until replacement platforms such as the Sentinel-class are acquired. (U.S. Coast Guard photo)
English: ANCHORAGE, Alaska (May 9, 2007) - Coast Guard Cutter Mustang escorts Military Sealift Command (MSC) fleet replenishment oiler Henry J. Kaiser (T-AO 187) into the port of Seward in south central Alaska. The vessels are part of a two-week joint State of Alaska and U.S. Northern Command sponsored homeland defense/defense support of civil authorities exercise called Arctic Shield/Northern Edge. The 677-foot vessel Kaiser is part of the 39 ships in the Naval Fleet Auxiliary Force. The cutter Mustang is a 110-foot Island-class patrol vessel homeported in Seward.
