Summary

Description The U.S. Coast Guard cutter USCGC Tampa moored in a European port (possibly Gibraltar), circa 1917-1918. This ship was torpedoed and sunk on 26 September 1918, with the loss of all 131 persons on board. The original image is printed on post card stock. Note the paddle tug astern of Tampa and the large converted yacht in the left distance. The latter may be a Royal Navy vessel.
