Summary

Description The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Langley (CV-1) under conversion from a collier to an aircraft carrier at Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Virginia (USA), on 14 May 1921. USS Langley (AC-3) was decommissioned as a collier on 20 March 1920. Recommissioned as CV-1 on 20 March 1922, she served as an aircraft carrier until 26 February 1937. After a second conversion, the Langley became a seaplane tender (AV-3) on 21 April 1937.
