This is the logo for California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Further details: The former seal of the university which displays a mace (a stylized version of a Yggdrasil), the tree of life from Norse mythology. In addition to the tree, the logo is crowned with the name of the University and the date of its founding. The Seal also includes Cal Poly's motto, Instrumentum Disciplinae. Literally translating to "the instrument of discipline". Suggested as also meaning "the tools of teaching", "the construction of instruction" or "application of knowledge". |
