Source Attribution by the insignia's artist's son, Eric
Author Concept and artwork by then Capt. Hugo A. Olsson, Jr, USMC fighter pilot, based at Henderson Field, Guadalcanal, 1942. The first shoulder patches of this design were made in Sydney, Australia, while Hugo was there on leave. Retired Major Olsson, architect, watercolor artist, and pilot in civilian life, died in 2003 at age 83.
