English: 9 praying members of the Scuola Vecchia di Santa Maria della Misericordia in Venice are seeking shelter under the virgin's mantle, which is supported by angels on both sides. The virgin is surrounded by prophets in the tree of Jesse. In their scrolls the coming of Christ is announced, who is depicted as a naked child blessing within a mandorla on the virgin's breast
