| Description |
English: War Memorial Cross, Miserden
Designed by Edwin Lutyens, the Memorial was installed c1920 to the south of the village church. The dedication in view is TO THE MEMORY OF OUR GLORIOUS DEAD 1914-1919. The year 1919 is not a mistake. Although the end of the Great War is often stated to date from the armistice of November 11th, 1918, officially a formal state of war persisted until the signing of the Treaty of Versailles with Germany on June 28th 1919. |
