Summary

Description This visualization aims to provide an overview of Europe's witch trials during the period from 1300 to 1850. It will showcase the outcomes of these trials, categorizing them into executions, absolutions, and cases with unknown results, while also comparing them to major historical events that had a pivotal role in the european witch hunt.

The data for this visualization was sourced from the comprehensive database created by economists Peter T. Leeson and Jake Russ in 2017. Their database encompasses over 10,000 witch trials that occurred in Europe over a span of 550 years. These trials involved accusations against more than 43,000 individuals, ultimately resulting in approximately 16,000 deaths.
