Couldn't use real text[edit]

I tried to use embeded text for the lyrics, but the rendering kept breaking in the SVG checker, moving the text way offscreen. So I resorted to converting it all to paths. If anyone can fix it, go right ahead. The font I used was Nimbus Roman No 9 L. — trlkly 13:45, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I figured it out. Finale apparently uses manual kerns in order to place its text. Unfortunately, rsvg, the SVG renderer here, doesn't like those. I had to replace them with spaces.
I also noticed something peculiar. I got my URW+ fonts from the official location, but they aren't quite named correctly. The spaces are left out. The Wikipedia copy, on the other hand, seems to have spaces. So I had to use FontForge to edit my font name so that I could use the same font on both systems. (And FontForge is very, very buggy on Windows.) — trlkly 10:18, 14 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
