File source[edit]

Hi! I was surprised to find my edit on Wikipedia, and I don't know what the rules are for edits/proper sourcing of files, but I thought I ought to mention it just in case.

This file page credits the fanmade Fandom Wiki as the source for this render. Does this qualify as a proper source? The Fandom Wiki is unaffiliated to Akudama Drive, which I know for a fact because I was and technically still am its only administrator.

The situation is as follows:

  • the Fandom Wiki has now moved to Miraheze, another non-lucrative Wiki farm. If anything, it would preferable for potential readers to be redirected to the current, up to date, open version of the Wiki. (Again, I was and am the admin who moved Wiki farms.)
  • this image's actual source is the official site, at this address: https://akudama-drive.com/character/ippanjin.html. The transparent version, which can easily be found from the mobile version of the site, is this: https://akudama-drive.com/core_sys/images/main/cont/chara/charaDetail1_2_sp.png.
  • as may be obvious after looking at this official render, part of the character's hand is covered by red text. This is absent from the file available right now on Wikipedia because I edited it out.

I can speak for the accuracy of this edit because I know I made it by referencing other, non-transparent versions of this same image. However, I do not usually edit Wikipedia pages and as such I do not know how much fanmade editing is technically allowed on files. I do not mind sharing this very small edit with Wikipedia, but it felt odd to see my edit be described as a "screenshot" and have the Fandom page credited as its source, without any acknowledgement that I participated in its creation (in its current state).

If the file page is considered okay by Wikipedia's standards as is, I certainly won't fight against sharing my very baseline work with its readers. It's not the first time my Wiki work is copied or re-uploaded to Wikipedia, which is always an odd experience to me, so I would have felt weird not saying anything.
