Copyright status of the CNW logo?[edit]

Exactly what details of this image's design make it eligible for copyright protection? Most of the other fallen flags' logos on this site feature the threshold of originality notice stating that those designs would be ineligible for copyright protection, but this logo, of similar class and style to its peers, does. What makes it special?

This logo consists of an arrangement of two simple geometric shapes overlaid on top of each other, with typesetting of the company name. Under those circumstances, this logo would normally not be copyrightable in the United States, much as the old Best Western logo was.

This does not impact the trademark status that the Union Pacific, successor, holds. 729MT (talk) 17:27, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
