Image notes[edit]

When the prior 350-pixel PNG image was uploaded to Wikipedia, very few examples of the City of Gilroy seal were available on the Web, and those examples were generally small and of poor quality. On 2013-06-06 I uploaded an high resolution photo of the seal to Wikimedia Commons. I took the photo in existing fluorescent lighting in the Gilroy City Council Chamber in the new Gilroy City Hall. Although the illumination isn't uniform and the image darkens toward the bottom, there is sufficient color and geometry information to allow it to be used as a guide to create a vector version, which I have done here. Due to the geometric and color distortion in the photo, all aspects of the SVG image were created manually from scratch, using a variety of drafting and drawing tools, not mechanically reproduced or traced. In that sense it is entirely an original work of art. Due to the artificial lighting in which the original was viewed and photographed, I cannot guarantee that the colors used in my version precisely match the original that hangs in the Gilroy City Hall. — QuicksilverT @ 19:01, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
