I think this picture is wrong :

In the article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public-key_cryptography i read that "The public key is used to transform a message into an unreadable form, decryptable only by using the (different but matching) private key." and I think this is right, so, I don't think that one can decipher anything using a public key as shown on the picture.

For clarification if you're still confused, or for anyone else who stumbles on this, the image is indeed correct. The context of your quote was about public-key encryption, which aims to protect the contents of a file or message. Digital signatures aim to provide authentication and non-repudiation.
