A Weapons Load Crew "Arms" a 48th Tactical Fighter Wing F-111F aircraft for a retaliatory air strike on Libya. An Arming Supervisor (Weapons Load Team Chief Antonio Mark McCoy) gives hand signals to the pilot of the aircraft as the crewman under the wing pulls arming pins out of the GBU-10 Laser Glide Bombs. The Crewman by the landing gear is checking for foreign objects on the runway that might be sucked into an engine before takeoff. Location: ROYAL AIR FORCE, LAKENHEATH, EAST ANGLIA ENGLAND / GREAT BRITAIN (ENG)

Re: "The Crewman by the landing gear is checking for foreign objects on the runway that might be sucked into an engine before takeoff." I was a crew chief @ Lakenheath '82-'85. I didn't work EOR often, but my memory is that any FOD checks would've been done prior the jet's arrival. If the crewman referred to in the sentence at issue is a crew chief, he may have just double-checked that the speed brake collar had been removed by the launching crew chief prior to taxi. If he's a weapons guy, I wouldn't know what he's doing. DougJustDoug (talk) 13:08, 28 March 2011 (UTC)DougJustDoug[reply]
