FWIW, this outline image of both the Falcon 9 and the Falcon Heavy is now, as of October 2013, out of date. The aspect ratios, and the engine configuration, have changed substantially for both vehicle designs, and in the event, the short Falcon 9 never flew with the payload fairing.

This graphic is still pretty accurate for the design look of both the early Falcon 9 cum payload fairing; and also the initial design, as released to the public, of the Falcon Heavy.

For reference, the first version of the Falcon 9—Falcon 9 v1.0—flew five times in 2010–2013, each time with a capsule payload, so never with the payload fairing shown. It is now retired.

The second version—Falcon 9 v1.1—flew first in October 2013; and the actual flight article Falcon Heavy has now been shown to have a much longer aspect ratio as well, in documents SpaceX release several months ago.
