Wrong colors and design?[edit]
According to the information at the Flags of the World site, the city flag consists of the seal on a white background, but the colors used are slightly different. This rendition appears to have used the colors of the SVG seal without alteration. I can't say, as I haven't seen the Gilroy flag in person, nor a color photo of it. According to the FoTW remarks, the City Council adopted the current form of the flag on 2 June 2003, so that information should be available in the minutes or a resolution of the council meeting; it isn't in the Municipal Code, though. Since the colored version of the city seal is affixed to the wall of the City of Gilroy Council Chamber, it doesn't make much sense to create the flag with different colors if the intent was to use the seal design as-is.
Also, why was this posted to Wikipedia as a PNG raster image? The seal is now available at Wikimedia Commons as a vector graphic in SVG format, and it could have been used to create a SVG flag with little effort. — QuicksilverT @ 21:11, 28 March 2014 (UTC)
