Can some body verify the symbol for Islam. I thought it was a crescent, because I notice calligraphic ('God') inscription instead.

I also noticed this. Islam doesn't actually have an officially declared symbol like Christianity's cross or Judaism's 6 star. The Crescent is regarded as the general symbol though. Could someone change the calligraphy to the Crescent? Non-Muslim Arabs also use that calligraphy you know. --Hamster X (talk) 09:31, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes please, change the cross to a crescent —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.167.227.176 (talk) 23:20, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Don't change it. The symbol of Islam is NOT a crescent moon and star. It has no official symbol, just as Christianity has no official symbol. But why do the Christians use the cross? It's because it symbolizes their Lord. The Arabic calligraphy of "Allah" symbolizes our Lord, and that's why it's better to use that than the crescent moon and star. The crescent only represents the start of Ramadan, by the way. Armyrifle (talk) 14:57, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
