Untitled[edit]

Gargantuan caption. Please revise. Txtimetraveler 19:05, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Do you mean the caption on the image description page? That's copied word-for-word from the source, I believe. howcheng {chat} 20:01, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The caption might lead people to believe, mistakenly, that this picture was taken at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island (Ault Field) on the northern peninsular of Whidbey Island. This picture shows an air drop at the "dis-used" USN Reserve airfield on the southern penninsular of Whidbey Island, at coordinates 48°11′24″N 122°37′48″W / 48.19000°N 122.63000°W / 48.19000; -122.63000. (Note the crosses on the runway that indicate that the field should not be used for landings.) The aircraft is tracking to the south-east (north-to-south) along the eastern side of the airfield; see the bend in the 20 road on the left. The radome on the south-western side of the airfield is on the right of the picture. I will add something of this to the caption when it has been unblocked.
