Copyright status[edit]

"This is a two-dimensional representation of a copyrighted sculpture, statue or any other three-dimensional work of art. As such it is a derivative work of art, and per US Copyright Act of 1976, § 106(2) whomever holds copyright of the original has the exclusive right to authorize derivative works."

Surely the only question here is whether or not the photographic representation involves sufficient creative input that someone holds the copyright to the photo. I think we can safely assume that sufficient time has lapsed since the death of the sculptor that the Venus itself has passed into the public domain.... 79.64.227.29 (talk) 04:08, 16 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
