Are you sure this is running in an xterm? According to its manpage, xterm only emulates the DEC vt102/220 character terminals and the Tektronix 4014 monochrome vector graphics terminal, neither of which would be capable of generating the full-color bitmap images in this screenshot. - Pwbrooks (talk) 18:19, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

xterm exports its X window ID in the WINDOWID env var to shell processes, allowing w3m to paint directly to the window (using XCopyArea). It's not a graphics-capable terminal protocol as such. EdC (talk) 21:53, 3 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
